Compliance with State mandated COVID-19 protocols has presented a significant challenge for citizens to safely convene and for candidates to campaign. Therefore, key partners (Wilsonville Spokesman and Wilsonville Chamber) have combined forces to create a community-wide/nonpartisan City of Wilsonville Mayor/Council Candidates Forum Virtual Event.
This will be one of the most widely accessible candidate forums in the history of the City of Wilsonville. It will be live-streamed online for anyone to watch (e.g. website, Facebook, and YouTube) and a recorded video will also be available, minutes after the live event concludes.
The Wilsonville Spokesman and the Wilsonville Chamber will extend the invitation to the entire Wilsonville Community to submit potential questions for the candidates. A panel will choose 10 potential forum questions. The candidates will then be notified of the potential question topics but not the actual specific questions. At the start of the forum there will be a random drawing to determine the six actual questions.
Each candidate will have one minute for opening remarks and two minutes for closing remarks. Every candidate will be asked the same six questions. Each candidate will have one question that they will be the first to answer and one question that they will be the last to answer. (Five minutes before the start of the forum there will be a random drawing in order to match the specific candidate with their candidate number in order to create a fair, totally random order of speaking.

5:20 pm Question #2 – answers from Candidates #1 thru #6 in random order – 1 minute each
5:28 pm Question #3 – answers from Candidates #1 thru #6 in random order – 1 minute each
5:35 pm Question #4 – answers from Candidates #1 thru #6 in random order – 1 minute each

Candidate Mutually Agreed Upon Ground Rules
1) In order to maintain a non-partisan atmosphere during the forum, campaign graphics should not be visible. For example, no buttons, hats, signs, or virtual backgrounds with campaign graphics/info should be visible.
2) This is a candidate forum. It is not a debate. Making claims about other candidates’ positions, cross talk, or rebuttal is not acceptable.
